Aliou DIOP is  a professor of mathematics in the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technologies at Gaston Berger University in Saint Louis. He received a master’s degree in applied mathematics from Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar in 1992, a PhD in 1995, and a Doctorat d’Etat (Habilitation Degree) in applied mathematics from Gaston Berger in 2004.  He then worked at Gaston Berger University as an assistant professor  from 1995-2006, as associate professor  from 2007-2011, and as a full professor since 2012. Between 2012 and 2020, he served as the head of the doctoral studies in applied sciences and technologies and previously between 2007 and 2012 in the Laboratory of Statistics at Gaston Berger University.  He served as Principal Investigator of the African Center of Excellence in Mathematics, Computer Science and ICT funded by the World Bank between 2014-2020. He participated in several projects on capacity building and is currently working on an EU-project “Support for Training, Research and Innovation for Intra-African Development (AFRIDI).” His research interests include extreme value theory, nonparametric statistics, time series analysis, and applied statistics. Aliou Diop has published extensively and notably in the fields of statistics and applications.
