Bio/Description

Ayodele Alabi is committed to contributing to public health improvement on a global scale. He graduated with a medical degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Craiova, Romania in 2018, where he received an Award of Excellence for positive contributions to the faculty of Medicine.  He continues to pursue his interest in the application of research to improve medical care, particularly in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of infectious diseases; and in the use of clinical trials to improve clinical practice. He is preparing himself for an active role in the fight against the so-called infectious diseases of poverty such as soil transmitted helminth infections, malaria, HIV, and TB. Morbidity and mortality due to these infections remain unacceptably high, particularly in resource-limited settings; and he is determined to contribute towards minimizing their negative impact. He currently works as a clinical investigator at Centre de Recherches Médicales de Lambaréné (CERMEL) in Gabon, and as a PhD student at the Leiden University Medical Centre in The Netherlands.
