Bio/Description

Célestin B. Bucekuderhwa is an associate professor at the Faculty of Economics and Management and is a director of the Laboratory of Applied Economics (LEAD) at the Catholic University of Bukavu. He holds a master’s in human development and food security from the Università Degli Studi di Roma Tre and a PhD from the Catholic University of Bukavu (UCB). His research themes include technology adoption, poverty and inequality, food security and gender analysis, entrepreneurship, access to public services, regional integration, and cross-border trade.  

Since 2003, he has been working as a researcher in the field of rural economy. He has already produced  several papers within the framework of the value chain going from competitiveness to agricultural policy for the revitalization of the rice sector. His doctoral thesis focused on the adoption of technologies in subsistence farming. Since 2010, he has been working on trade facilitation and regional integration issues in the African Great Lakes. Currently, he simultaneously serves as  a Provincial Coordinator and Trade Specialist for the Great Lakes Trade Facilitation Project (GKTFP). He is a consultant in several international institutions and organizations such as the  World Bank, UNDP, EDF-RD, CICR, and ADRDA.
