Charity Kapenda is a lecturer and researcher in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Zambia. She has been a lecturer since 2016, with research and teaching interests in Cardiopulmonary, Neurology, Exercise Physiology and Leadership and Management. Other research interests include HIV/AIDs and Palliative Care. She was educated at the University of Zambia for both her MSc in Human Physiology and BSc in Physiotherapy. Her MSc in Human Physiology focused on effects of exercise on the respiratory system and quality of life in heart failure patients.

She has completed several short courses in implementation research, leadership, and teaching methodology. She is currently working on her PhD concept paper and pursuing an MPhil in Sustainable Development, a sandwich program offered by the University of Zambia, University of Cape Town and Stellenbosch University.

Prior to joining the academic world, Charity worked in several hospitals as a physiotherapist. She has worked in a number of medical universities in both a part time and full time Physiology Lecturer capacity.  She has held positions both as a clinician and Lecturer. She has participated in different research projects, both locally and internationally.

She is passionate about seeing a coordinated approach between science, policy and community players in order to identify innovative and sustainable strategies to address rapidly growing community challenges such as non communicable diseases.
