
Dr. Clive Coetzee graduated with a B.Mil. degree in Management Sciences, a B.Mil. Honours degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Economics from the Faculty of Military Science of the University of Stellenbosch between 1994 and 2000. He completed two Advanced Management Courses at the University of South Africa and a Ph.D. in Economics at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He served in the South African Air Force between 1990 and 2000, and amongst others, as a physical training instructor, operations officer and officer commanding of various squadrons. He became a lecturer in Economics at the Faculty of Military Science of the University of Stellenbosch in 1999. Dr. Clive Coetzee also lectured at the School of Economics of the University of Cape Town from 2000 to 2003. In 2003 he joined the School of Economics and Finance of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, lecturing various economics and finance subjects. In 2008, he joined the Provincial Treasury in KwaZulu-Natal as the Chief Director Infrastructure Management and Economic Services until December 2019. Since 2000, he owns and manages a consultancy business called Clive Coetzee Financial Service, that specializes in economic and financial analysis. Dr. Clive Coetzee is also an extraordinary research associate at the TRADE Research niche, WTO chair, and School of Economics of the North-West University in South Africa. He has published several articles in accredited international and national journals. He has written over 40 working papers and has worked on over 35 consultancy projects.
