Espoir Bisimwa Basengere is a crop pests and diseases epidemiologist under various agroecology production systems. He has over 20 years of experience with crop pests, disease epidemiology, and diagnosis in the Congo basin area. His experience includes teaching, research, consultancy missions, and advocacy activities. He is also involved in prediction and management of crop pests and disease epidemics related to agroecology diversity and sustainability. In addition, he has been involved in the development and dissemination of climate change-resilient crops and varieties to smallholder farmers and vulnerable zones with the goal of enhancing productivity, profitability, and flexible agriculture in the Eastern DR Congo. More recently, he has been involved in youth agriculture entrepreneurship to improve youth employment and fight poverty by promoting and supporting business-oriented agriculture.
