Faysal Cherif is an associate professor at the Higher Institute of the History of Contemporary Tunisia. He was born in November 1965 in Enfidha, Sousse, Tunisia. He fluently speaks and writes in Arabic, French, and English.  He also understands and speaks Italian.

Cherif defended his doctoral thesis in 2001 at the University of Paris IV Sorbonne. In 2002, he was recruited as a permanent researcher at the Higher Institute of the History of the National Movement, Manouba (Tunisia). Faysal Cherif has been active in the field of research, where he has forged links between the scientific circles in Algeria, Morocco, France, and the USA. He has won several research grants. He joined the written press in 2007, and after the Tunisian Revolution of 2011, by request of the Tunisian and foreign audiovisual media and reported on military and security issues and the phenomenon of terrorism. Faysal also spoke on security issues in the Maghreb with NATO in Rome and Toronto (December 2012 and March 2013).

The University of Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne invited him to teach courses on war propaganda and public opinion in the Maghreb in March 2015. In addition, in 2019, he was invited to South Korea, where he was able to forge good ties with Busan University and Hankook University of International Relations in Seoul.
