Bio/Description

Dr. Gbenga Wilfred Akinola is currently a lecturer in the Department of Economics, Faculty of Social Sciences, Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. He has maintained a strong Doctoral and Post-Doctoral research affiliation with the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa, one of the top and leading University in research in the continent of Africa.

His research proficiency caught across the field of social sciences with special interest in Health Economics, Human Capital Development and Monetary Economics. He has published several peer-reviewed journal articles and has presented papers at a few international conferences in Africa and Europe. The latest and soon-to-be published of his research works are on productivity and economic impact of breast cancer among women in the South-west region of Nigeria.

He has trained and developed a few young researchers both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels nationally and internationally. 

He holds a dual citizenship position in Nigeria and South Africa. His prowess and academic achievement are strongly linked to the 6 O’clock principle having an upward arrow pointing to God and the downward arrow pointing to perspiration and diligence.

Dr. Akinola is happily married to Feyisayo Akinola, a doctoral student of Educational leadership from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and they are blessed with three children.
