Bio/Description

Guy Degla is an associate professor of mathematics at the Institute of Mathematics and Physics (IMSP) at the University of Abomey-Calavi (UAC) in Benin.  


He is a member of the scientific boards at several institutions:  UAC, Digital Sciences and Technology Network, African Mathematical Union Commission for Research and Innovation, Association of Mathematical Sciences and Optimization (AMSO-Unilag), International University of Cocodi; Côte-d'Ivoire, and African School of Economics, Benin. 
Guy is the principal investigator of TWAS and a reviewer of the American Mathematical Society.
In addition, he is the head of the IMSP Office of Cooperation and coordinator of the Operational Research sector at  IMSP.


He holds a PhD in functional analysis and applications conferred  by the  International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA, Italy), a diploma in mathematics from the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP, Italy), and an MSc degree in mathematics from UAC, Benin. 


He was a postdoc at SISSA, ICTP, AMSS, IMPA, and AUST. He was also awarded the 2007 TWAS Prize.
His research interests are nonlinear functional analysis, ordered Banach spaces and positive operators, optimization, differential equations, Bifurcation Theory, dynamical systems, and differential inclusions, about which he published several articles.
He has (co)supervised more than forty (40) master’s students from various African universities, 4 PhD students, and is still supervising 12 graduate students.
