Prof. Idir Bitam is a permanent teacher at ESSAIA. He is a former head of department at the Institut Pasteur d'Algérie, secretary general of ESCAR, a sub-group of ESCMID, the European Society of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. He is a university professor, leader of the parasites and vectors research team in Algeria at USTHB located at the ESSAIA partner team of VITROME. He is Chairman of the National Pedagogical Committee of Higher Schools in the Nature and Life Sciences Sector, Expert at the General Directorate of Prevention, at the Ministry of Health in the field of vector-borne diseases. He has to his credit more than 80 international publications and 2 book chapters in the field of vector-borne diseases. He has directed 12 PhD students, 8 Magisters and more than 35 Masters, Engineers and DES.
