Bio/Description

Jabir Haruna Abdulkareem is a climate and environmental specialist; he is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Agricultural Research Samaru, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. Gs. Dr. is the cofounder and Chairman Board of Trustees Goals Development Empowerment Initiative (GDEI). He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, MSc. Soil Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a PhD in Environmental Hydrology and Hydrogeology from Universiti Putra Malaysia. His research interests are in the field of hydrology, water resources management, GIS and remote sensing, environmental modelling and natural disasters in agriculture and environment Gs. Dr. Jabir was an Expert Reviewer for The First and Second Order Draft of the Working Group I (WGI) Contribution to the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) for Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) (2019-2020). He is recipient of several awards such as PhD Research Grant from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysia (Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS 2015-1) (2015 – 2017). Distinction in Student’s Masters Research thesis (2015) and Masters study Fellowship under the Urban Food Project of the Organic Agricultural Sciences, University of Kassel, Germany sponsored by Volkswagen Foundation, Germany (2012). Others are Distinction in Student’s Undergraduate Research Project (2008), Zamfara state Government University Scholarship (2004 – 2008), Chevron National Undergraduate Scholarship Award (2004 – 2006), Ocean and Oil National Undergraduate Scholarship Award (2004 – 2007).
