John Luiz is a Professor of International Management at the University of Sussex, and at the University of Cape Town (GSB), specialising in International Management Strategy; Business, Society, and Government; and the Political Economy of Emerging Markets.
John has been a visiting scholar, research affiliate and visiting professor at various universities in the USA, Chile, the Netherlands, Portugal, Hungary, and Italy.
He is a member of various professional bodies and was President of the Economic Society of South Africa from 2014 to 2016. He is on the Editorial Board of several leading journals.
Besides winning various teaching awards, John has published more than 150 publications, including over 100 articles in leading journals. He is the co-author and/or editor of several books published by Macmillan, Pearson and Oxford University Press, over 20 book chapters, and the co-author of an award-winning case study on sustainable development. The National Research Foundation recognised John’s research and he has been rated since 2003.
He is a consultant at numerous leading multinational corporations, public entities, and NGOs. He is active in management training and executive education at prominent multinational corporations and public entities.
