Lucien Biguru Zihindula is currently Professor of Mathematical Sciences at Université Catholique de Bukavu (UCB), as well as at Université Officielle de Bukavu (UOB) in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
As Honorary Dean of the Faculty of Sciences (UCB), former General Director of the Institut supérieur d’Informatique et de Gestion ( www.isig.ac.cd ) of Goma-DRC and currently member of the Bureau du Conseil Associatif de l’Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie ( www.auf.org ) for the 2017-2021 mandate, Prof. Zihindula is strongly committed to the fight for the good governance of academic institutions in Africa.
His university training in Applied Pedagogy coupled with his PhD in Pure Mathematics justifies his constant openness to new teaching practices in Sciences. During the 2019-2020 academic year he had the honor of being the coordinator of the techno-pedagogical team that designed and implemented the transition from face-to-face teaching to online teaching in the context of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic at the Catholic University of Bukavu.
His scientific interests include Differential Geometry, Mathematics Didactics and the calculus of probabilities. His latest publication is in line with current events (see https://m.scirp.org/papers/105695 ) insofar as its current version proposes a probabilistic strategy to optimize the cost of screening for some diseases in equipment deficit. Currently (January 2020), he is working on some links between the Lie group structure of the three dimensional sphere as well as its structure as total space of the famous Hopf fibration.
