Bio/Description

Papa Ngom received his PhD in applied mathematics in 1998 from the University of Aix-Marseille in France. In 2000, he joined the department of mathematics and computer science at Cheikh Anta DIOP University (UCAD) in Dakar, Senegal. He holds a full professor position in applied mathematics at the Faculty of Science and Technics (UCAD) and has been a member of the Scientific and Pedagogical Council of the Doctoral School of Mathematics and Computer Science (EDMI) since 2014. He directs the Laboratory of Applied Mathematics (LMA), where he has served as the head of the Probability and Statistics team of the LMA since 2009. In 2014, he organized the first international conference on recent development in applied statistics called DIDACS (Dakar International Conference on Recent Developments in Applied Statistics) in collaboration with the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC, USA). DIDACS is a series of African countries conferences. He has successfully supervised and co-supervised the doctoral theses of several African students. He often participates on thesis juries in Africa (Senegal, IMSP-Benin, and Masuku-Gabon). He has been involved in many collaborative research projects financed by various instances, including the FIRST project (Senegal) and the Africa Mathematics Project (AMP) launched by the SIMONS Foundation. He has published articles on generalized divergences, non-parametric, and semi-parametric estimates in Bayesian analysis.

He is the co-author of the following book chapters:

- Mathematical modeling of random and deterministic phenomena. ISTE, Wiley. 01-02-2020

-Proceedings of the first NLAGA-BIRS symposium, Dakar, Senegal, June 24-28, 2019 - Springer Nature, Birkhäuser Basel; Trends in Mathematics.
