Pyemo completed a PhD in Economics from Kyushu University (Japan) in 2018, after completing an MSc in International Finance at the University of Dundee (United Kingdom) where he gained a distinction. 

His research interests are varied and include topics in financial markets and institutions, entrepreneurial finance and digitization, social norms and financial decision making, corporate sustainability and behavioural economics of climate change and renewable energy use, particularly in developing country contexts. 

Findings from his research have been presented at several academic conferences and have appeared in reviewed journals, such as the International Review of Financial Analysis, Journal of Behavioural and Experimental Finance, Journal of African Business, among others. 

He is a recipient of several academic scholarships and fellowships. He is also a recipient of the 2018 Annual African Finance Journal Conference ‘Best PhD Paper’ prize. 

Pyemo has been an ad-hoc reviewer for African Development Review, Journal of African Business, Managerial Finance, Journal of Multinational Financial Management, Applied Economics Letters and Emerging Markets Finance and Trade. 

He is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Human Economy Programme, University of Pretoria (South Africa).
