Bio/Description
Sarah Deschênes is a PhD candidate at both the Paris School of Economics and the French Institute for Demographic Studies (Ined). Her research focuses on family and gender economics and on intimate partner violence (IPV) in sub-Saharan African countries. In particular, she examines the impact of primary education on women’s marital outcomes and the impact of family structure on tolerance and experience with IPV. She also explores the relevance of using nonstandard tools to measure IPV. Sarah has been consulting for the Gender Innovation Lab (GIL) of the World Bank.
