Since December 2014, Zoubir Benhamouche has been an economist at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), North Africa office. He served as a consultant for the World Bank, and European Commission before joining UNECA. Previously, he spent 7 years as a consultant in financial markets at PwC, and Hiram-Finance, in France. He also spent 3 years as an economist at the Direction de la Prevision et de l’Analyse Economique, Ministère de l’Economie et des Finances, Paris.

At UNECA his research focuses on productivity, inequality, structural transformation, and the impact of institutions on economic development.

Zoubir Benhamouche is a graduate from ENSAE, France and he holds a PhD in economics from University d’Evry and CEPREMAP, France. He holds an executive MBA from Kedge Business School, and a certification in social programs evaluation from J-PAL Europe.
